Website Promotion There are probably as many ways to promote a website as there are websites.
This page focuses on online or Internet Website Promotion options. Of these there are White Hat or Ethical SEO practices, as well as what is known as Black Hat SEO or 'spamdexing' tactics.
There are simply too many proven Search Engine Friendly options available to make less-than-ethical techniques viable for a successful, longterm online business presence.
I practice only Ethical SEO, such as RSS feeds and ROR
Sitemaps, or Optimization and submission. We'll take a look at these
here: RSS Feeds RSS is a family of web feed formats, specified in XML and used for Web syndication. RSS is used to advantage by (among other things) business, information, and news websites, weblogs (blogs), and podcasting. The abbreviation is variously used to refer to the following standards:
Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91)
Web feeds provide your web content or summaries of your
web content together with links to the full versions of the content,
and other metadata. RSS in particular, delivers this information as
an XML file called an RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel.
In addition to providing your content to the search engines in an
SE friendly format, and facilitating syndication, web feeds allow
your website's frequent readers to track updates on the site using
an aggregator. Give YOUR website
an RSS Advantage What is ROR?
ROR (Resources of a Resource) is a relatively new and continually developed and upgraded XML format for describing the content, objects, and structure of websites in a generic fashion so search engines and other web applications can find and understand information more easily.
For example if your website is selling products, ROR enables you to document your product names, descriptions, prices, images, availability, affiliate programs, etc. Or if your site or blog provides information on a given topic, it allows you to describe how this information is organized (sitemap, topics, categories, new information, archive, blogroll, etc). ROR also provides terms for documenting objects such as contacts, articles, newsletters, feeds, images, audio, links, reviews, privacy policy, copyrights, and more. SEO Arguably the most important lessons I have learned are “Keep it Simple”, and “Be Patient and Persevere” when it comes to Search Engine Services.
And whatever you do - Don’t Lie, Don’t Cheat,
Don’t Steal. Site Optimization
Optimize your copy, your content, and your website.
How? Optimize your Copy: Make sure your words say what you
mean. Write your own words by all means -- you know your business
best. But...if your speciality is not that of a website copywriter
who can check spelling, grammer, punctuation, edit for readability,
etc. - hire someone. This is that important.
